How You Can Help

Donate Yarn from the Approved Yarn Lists

We are just starting out and are not for profit.  All donations would be strictly used for the purposes of Chemo Caps for OHSU Knight Cancer Institute in Beaverton, OR, NICU Blankets for Doernbecher's Children's Hospital or Scarves for the Homeless of Beaverton.  If you have a preference, please indicate such on your donation and we will be sure to use it for that specific purpose.

Please send yarn donations to: Heartfelt Stitchery, Khrissi Satterfield, 5476 SW Alger Ave #13, Beaverton, OR 97005  Thank you for your donation!

Donate Cash

Who doesn't like cash? All cash donations will be used to purchase yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks, and any necessary notions.   Be sure to include in the notes section this is for Heartfelt Stitchery AND which event you wish to participate in (Chemo Caps, NICU Blankets, Scarves for the Homeless. or all of the above).  Your donation is greatly appreciated!

Guidelines we are required to follow for both Chemo Caps and NICU Blankets (30"x36"):

  1. All creations must be made with yarns from the list below.
  2. Any form of stitching acceptable including sewn (FOR BLANKETS ONLY, CHEMO CAPS MUST BE HAND STITCHED).
  3. Thin, seamless, non-lumpy chemo caps are best for increased comfort.
  4. No lacy patterns, no holes of any sort, cancer patients do not like to see their baldness and babies and their tubes can get caught in the holes.
  5. Yarn must be odorless, smoke-free, dander, and pet fur free.
  6. Be sure to weave your ends in well with nothing showing and no knots.
  7. Wash and dry your creations before submitting them to us.  When drying, do not use dryer sheets as they contain chemicals that sensitive skin may react badly toward.
  8. Adult Chemo Caps only, no child or baby hats.
  9. No wool, sensitive skin reacts poorly to wool.  Exception: Superwash MERINO Wool is acceptable - however, it must be labeled and be washer and dryer friendly (even if only 10 minutes on warm),

SCARVES & COWLS, SOCKS & GLOVES:  Since these are not for cancer patients or babies at risk, feel free to stitch up anything soft, warm & beautiful.  Just keep in mind, these folks do not have access to regular laundry care and when they do, everything tends to get washed in hot water and dried on high heat.

Please send items to:  Heartfelt Stitchery, Khrissi Satterfield, 5476 SW Alger Ave #13, Beaverton, OR 97005  Thank you for your contributions

You don’t knit because you are patient. You are patient because you knit.

Check out the links in our Wish Lists or look for DK (3), Worsted Weight (4), or Chunky (5) yarns in Cotton, Bamboo, a blend of the two, or blended with cashmere, acrylic, nylon, or polyester.

Absolutely NO metallic/sparkle, chenille, or glitter, nothing itchy. To test for softness, do not rely on your hands, brush the yarn under your chin, if it's at all scratchy, don't get it.  It must be machine washable and dryable.

If using wool, be sure it's Superwash MERINO and indicate such along with washing/drying instructions on a label or tag attached with a safety pin - these sensitive patients may have wool allergies.  The Superwash Merino can also be blended with cashmere, acrylic, polyester, nylon, bamboo, or cotton.

I use yarn, art supplies, and notepads from the companies below, in addition to my local yarn stores.
